HOUSING PEOPLE CAN AFFORD
Help create more housing people can afford, protect County tax relief for homeowners and make careful budget choices that preserve essential services.

WHO SETS YOUR TAX BILL?
Several local governments do. The County sets its own part, and Justin worked to lower it.
1,250-HOME PLAN ★ 20% HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION ★ SENIOR TAX FREEZE KEPT ★ AAA BOND RATING
20%
Homestead exemption on the County's share of your tax bill, the most state law allows.
1,250
Affordable homes the County's five-year plan aims to create or preserve in the urban core.
$4.5M
To stabilize Hudson Apartments, plus $2.1 million for an on-site service center.
AAA
Bond rating the County kept, so big projects cost taxpayers less to finance.
WHAT JUSTIN HAS DONE
Commissioners Court has five members. These passed with Justin's vote and work.
DONE
Real tax relief for homeowners
Worked with the Court to adopt the County's first homestead exemption in 2022 and raise it to 20%, keep the senior tax freeze and raise University Health's exemption from 5% to 20%.
FUNDED
Homes for working families
Supported Cattleman Square Lofts, Casa Bella, Arbors at West Avenue and Fortuna Court, a planned 28-home development in Precinct 2.
DONE
A plan for 1,250 homes
Adopted a five-year plan to create or preserve at least 1,250 affordable homes in the historic urban core, including at least 500 two- and three-bedroom homes.
WHAT COMES NEXT
Funding is not the finish line. In his next term, Justin will push to:
01
BUILD THE HOMES
Deliver on the 1,250-home plan, with family-size homes close to jobs, schools and transit.
02
PROTECT TAX RELIEF
Keep the 20% homestead exemption and the senior tax freeze in place.
03
SPEND WITH CARE
Make careful budget choices that keep roads, public safety and other essential services strong.
